Fundraising Events

Special Fundraising Event: We need to do all we can to keep the food pantry stocked with food to continue the good (and very necessary) work of the East Side Soup Kitchen.  As such, we have planned a special fund-raiser on Monday, April 28 at the Lakeshore Grill, the restaurant inside Macy's department store, Fashion Square Mall. The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will feature wonderful food and fashions (for men and women) from Macy's. In addition, there will be makeovers available along with free gift packs for all and special drawings. Jeff Oppermann will be on hand from Oppermann Cork'N Ale to offer a free wine tasting for all guests.

Tickets are $50 and proceeds will benefit the Soup Kitchen's noon meal and the after-school program for area children. Only 75 tickets will be sold. We also have sponsorships available (no tickets) starting at $10.

Macy's sponsored a similar event last fall for the ESSK. According to the responses received from those attendees, the event was a lot of fun and very much worth the price of the ticket (plus the good feeling gotten from having helped some very needy people of our community).

Pam Cole talks with students from Frankenmuth  United Methodist Church Souper Bowl Sunday 2007

Souper Bowl Sunday: On Super Bowl Sunday, February 3 this year, we ask churches to hold what we call "Souper Bowl Sunday". We ask that their youth program (or any other church group) members stand in the church foyer with an empty soup pot and ask members for a dollar donation to be given to a local soup kitchen. The program has national origins, but except for a tally call to headquarters reporting the amount collected locally, there are no other reporting or financial requirements. After the collection, the churches are asked to mail or bring the proceeds to the ESSK, have a cup of coffee and a cookie and receive a big Thank You. EASY, EASY, EASY but VERY beneficial to our hungry clients.

Stuff-A-Bus is held in August to help finance the After School Meal Program. More information will be published in the spring.

Macy's Fashion Show is planned for April. Stay tuned on this.

Christmas Card Appeal is mailed every November to our supporters.
